E. John Gavras Center

Many preschool-aged children have difficulty outwardly expressing their emotions and feelings. Numerous students in our program are unable to verbalize their thoughts and emotions. Moreover, preschool-aged children have a difficult time understanding the emotions of other children. Art is a wonderful way for individuals to convey their emotions to others.

This project, named “Emotions and Art: The Emergence of Empathy in Children”, will allow preschool aged students to have an age appropriate and accommodating way to express their emotions. Moreover, we hope that it will promote empathy when showing other students their artwork, discussing the possible emotions behind their artwork and understanding that everyone has feelings even if they can’t verbalize their feelings.
